An Opportunity to Discuss Voter Rights.

Transparent Payson Chairperson Jeffrey Aal will be speaking about the current issues facing Propositions 401 and 402 at the monthly meeting of the Gila County Libertarian Party.  We appreciate the invitation.  The issues of voters’ rights are core to all political parties.  We have discussed this concept here, and here.  The tools of democracy have been in place for thousands of years since Athens.  Ultimately, the foundation of a democratic government, in any form, republic, representative democracy, or direct democracy, is based on the people’s sovereignty.  You may have heard the phrase “consent of the governed.” Repealing the people’s will does not appear to reconcile with the “consent of the governed.”

The meeting is Thursday, June 15th at 5:30 PM at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260 in Payson.
